Hello! I am stuck with a strange problem that I see for the first time: Ubuntu from liveCD of 2.5.0 version does not shut down or restart, it just logs off. It is D525MW + 2gb ram + 160gb hdd PC.
I have searched the web for a solution and I have found 2 fixes: 1) disable OpenOffice quickstarter the thing is that I do not see that OpenOffice is actually installed on the system and "startup applications" do not have any OO related entries; 2) in terminal I executed sudo gedit /etc/default/grub then I changed this line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash isolcpus=1" to this one GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet acpi=force isolcpus=1" The problem with this one is that Ubuntu started to freeze up, LinuxCNC also froze, mouse was working, but I could not open any menu, not in LinuxCNC, not in taskbar. Once I changed back, everything works perfectly. Has anyone else encountered something like this? Could it be that I should not remove "splash" from that grub command line in the second option? In the meantime I shut the PC down with "sudo shutdown now", but I do not think that this is an option I want to keep permanently. -- Viesturs If you can't fix it, you don't own it. http://www.ifixit.com/Manifesto ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
