Greetings;

While coating some bullets with moly powder tonight, I found two things,
first being that the applicator media the bullets are vibrated in once a
small amount (1/4 teaspoon typically) of moly powder as been added to the
ceramic vibrator media, enough to coat several hundred bullets. But I had
lost or mislaid the instruction sheet so I went online and downloaded the
latest version, which explained why I wasn't getting a very good coat on
recent runs. It seems the process is poisoned by lead from the soft
pointed bullets! This wasn't mentioned when I bought the original kit a
decade back up the log, and several hundred assorted plastic nosed or lead
nosed bullets have been in that tub.

Then, while researching the medical effects of inhaling the dust, which is
sub 10 micron stuff, finding there aren't any recorded medical advisories
other than don't do it, I came across this link:

page.php?categoryID=1&gclid=CLKgiK2Em7ICFQTznAod8Q4AGw>

For tungsten disulfide powder, very fine at .6 micron and supposedly even
lower friction (COF=.03) than moly. $54 a pound. Samples available.

Has anyone tried this as a dry lube? Or as an oil/grease additive?

That COF=0.03 looks like a great way lube that wouldn't attract swarf like
vactra does by the ton.

Cheers, Gene
