Windows is not a real time operating system, so to make it Real time you need to replace certain parts of it. >>INtime RTOS That is not Windows! Here is a cost breakdown .. I have no idea if this is accurate or not.. but Intime is in the second half of the list and this list appears to be fairly old. http://mihirknows.blogspot.com/2008/03/rtos-cost-and-feature-comparison.html $900 to $9000 is fairly cheap for a RTOS Windows add in. So someone would have to buy the software license, making LinuxCNC no longer free and that would conflict with the existing licenses. Then you would have to give Microsoft $100 or so on top of that so it could host the Intime realtime extensions. Of course no one knows just how good INtime RTOS is ... so the software could suffer performance degradation. All of this and when you are done you don't have Windows, you have a INtime RTOS version of Windows. Don't bother calling Microsoft for support, they won't support it. Seems like a lot of wasted effort when LinuxCNC already works.
