It's not clear to me what you mean by 'uber-busy DRO display', but I might 
guess:
Is it showing offsets?
go to view and unclick show offsets

I think you get what you want.

show offsets has been re-established in the common code between gremlin and 
AXIS.
Unfortunately AXIS has show offsets on by default, which used to do nothing.
