I believe the rub comes in on the USB is because if a device has any 
storage in it, like a 2Gb usb-key, the system has to scan it for mistaken 
organization.  That takes time & screws with lcnc.  Take the storage out of 
the scene, and I believe its effect is relatively minimal.  Heck, I'm using 
USB wireless keyboard and mouse on the lathe, and the only time I have a 
problem is if the receiver gizmo gets knocked off the top of the spindle 
housing, its cable can reach the floor, and that too long a range for 
reliable operation with those puny powered bluetooth used in those.
