The quill conversions for a manual machine are pretty elaborate. BP used to put ballscrews on the knees of their CNC version for that reason. One of the guys that builds quill conversion is sue happy enough over his patent that commercial conversions seem to pay royalties to him. BP series one? My BP series II has a knee that weighs approximately the same as an entire Series I. Moving that thing is a joy since the air assist isn't assisting. I think even on a Series I there should be gas springs helping the motor. You can find more info about that in the BP section of CNCzone. I would like to get one of the BP series II knee ballscrews, but that has risks since under some foreseeable circumstances the knee could descend rapidly and it weighs the same as a small car. I guess there must be series I knee ballscrews, I don't really remember those though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ See everything from the browser to the database with AppDynamics Get end-to-end visibility with application monitoring from AppDynamics Isolate bottlenecks and diagnose root cause in seconds.
