1941 sales of 3D printed cookie cutters at a prices of $6, $7 or $8 equals over $13K in gross sales. That doesn't factor in however many of those are higher prices sales for custom commissions. Could be well over $15K gross for under 2,000 sales. Widespread adoption might be slowed a bit since Dr. Oz recently put out an "Ooooo. Scary!" newspaper column about the fumes and particles from 3D printers. I have to build one and find something to print that there's a demand for, or for which I can create a demand - before Wal-Mart starts selling halfway decent 3D printers for $100. ;-) They've done it before, call up some manufacturer and order a giant quantity, driving the price down but if the manufacturer takes the time to plan right a call from WM can be the best thing ever. One denim pants maker in the UK got a WM order - for more pairs of pants than the company had made in its entire history. "We really like your pants. How soon can you ship 50,000 pairs in assorted sizes?". There are classes for business owners on how to survive doing business with WM, especially on how to 'come down' without crashing after the big surge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ How ServiceNow helps IT people transform IT departments: 1.
