Probably braking resistors for the spindle. The resistors are connected across the 3 phases of the motor to bring the motor to a rapid stop.
Looks like they are wired in a Wye or Star connection.. One center connection and the three phases which probably connect to a contactor which is connected across the motor during rapid braking.
