Last time I priced one for my place on Nemo Road, 3 miles out of Rapid City in the middle '60's, they wanted about 7 grand in 1965 dollars, about a years salary for me in those days. Solid limestone all the way down, using a 4" impact driver, estimated at 450-500 feet for hard but potable water.
I kept on paying the water truck driver about $25/wk for about 500 gallons a week, all my cistern would hold. Next door neighbor had a pump jack on a 385 footer right beside box elder creek. Running slow, he got about a cup per stroke, letting it run into a 5000 gallon wooden tank, just about matched his use if they didn't do too much laundry. His spot was in the middle of a U bend in the creek, 300 feet back off the road, and a good 100 feet below me. Nice & quiet till a good gully washer brought the creek up 4 feet for 4 or 5 hours.
