I think it's great that you're trying to squeeze linuxcnc onto the eMMC memory, but for those of us who aren't having an issue booting and running from an SD Card I would like to make sure that this constrained version will be kept on a separate branch and that the 'full blown' version of linuxcnc image will still be maintained.
I like that I can have several GB of storage on the SD card and would really like to see the Linux version move to a more recent vintage. Constraining the size might unnecessarily prevent this. I am also reluctant to mess around with the eMMC image simply because I'd be afraid of bricking the BBB if there is some sort of error during reflash...
