I think I hit a good lick today, still using the chipped 1/32" bit, I
modded the code to only dig about 25 thou, and mounted a 3" piece of
.0155" thick alu I'd kept from the change door color inserts in the last
failed dishwasher. The bad mill threw up a ledge, particularly when
cutting the big circles, but I was able to trim those on a sharp file and
one of smiths hard arkansas stones. Blew it clean after all that, and
installed it. My analog scope says thats the best set of quadrature A/B
pulses it has looked at. Encoder_velocity output noise is about 1/2 what
it was before.

The hal scope however says the duration of the pulses is jumping back and
forth according to the time quantization of the 26 u-sec base-thread, and
this is the major source of noise in the velocity feedback now.

So a 5i25 is the only way to fix that.

What do I have to change in my hal file to cause it to load the correct
hm2 files?

And, how do I modify the pinouts going to/from the parport, so they come
out on the same db25 pin I'll move my BOB to?

Cheers, Gene Heskett
