Limitless rotary axes are not really limitless. My bridge 5 axis with Fanuc 15mb will rotate 9,999.999 degrees before the register overflows. I realize LinuxCNC will not have this small limit. For most things 9,999.999 degrees equates to limitless. LinuxCNC would be 'limitless' in more situations.
All the heavy power for my rotary axes is before the slip rings. The only problem we have had is the rings carrying the power for the encoder wore much faster than any of the other rings. We now have a battery feeding the power to the the encoder. The battery must be changed once in a while. Do not try to cheap the slip rings. Even the expensive ones will tend to be the source of most of the problems. In the beginning we had a lot of problems with our slip rings. We found cleanliness was the fix to most of the problems. thanks Stuart On Fri, Jul 18, 2014 at 10:36 AM, Tomaz T. <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi, > Does anyone here have any experiences with slip ring components?
