I've used a fair amount of Automation Direct hardware, and have always found their quality to be good, their pricing to be good, and their customer service (including tech support) to be excellent.
Mesa Electronics sells an excellent remote I/O solutions that work almost exactly the same way. They're not as modular, but the price is less, it needs only power and a Cat5 cable to communicate to the Mesa Electronics board in the main panel (even though it's not Ethernet protocol).
