I just upgraded to the latest version of linuxcnc and I'm really digging it. I hadn't upgraded in 7 years. I was first introduced to linux about 8 years ago approximately, through my former job, and the only thing that I don't like about it is that for someone like me who doesn't work with linux outside of running my mill I'm not as versed as I would like to be in it. And while it leads to some annoyances like not being able to get my computer hooked to my wireless network, everything else far outweighs the hassles like that. I also have a huge respect and appreciation for those out there that continue to work on linuxcnc and make it available to all of us.
