Greg - just saw this email from you in my "spam" folder. I've got a genuine Compact-8 waiting to be CNC'd - one of these years. Have the 3 phase motor, VFD, the Mesa 5i25/7i76 got put in another vertical mill, but that's easy to purchase.
I was thinking of using the feed screws but making acetal nuts using the "melt the plastic" method. I do read that this works fine, or sometimes it's a bit tight. Maybe ball screws are the best way forward. If you do proceed, tell me how you get along. John.
