This job is growing like Topsy.

But if it helps my new old lathe uses a 50mm wide 10-groove Poly-V
drive direct to the spindle, with no gearing  in the head for a 3hp
100rpm speed.

Perhaps it would be simpler to cut the two pulleys then assemble them
with press / glue / screws / weld / electron-beam welding....

Actually, what prevents them being two completely separate pulleys
mounted in the same shaft right next to each other?
