The trick to removing hot or cool melt glue is isopropyl alcohol. Get 
the 91% rubbing alcohol without any added scents or oils.

Apply the alcohol to the glue or dunk the item in it. Nearly 
instantaneously the glue can be popped loose.

Before I found that trick online I was sticking things in my freezer. 
That would harden the glue and break part of it loose but it'd warm up 
quickly and need to be frozen again.
