Andy, this poster may be useing a translator utility as I do not think 
English is the original poster's first language.

On this side of the pond axes or axe's would be plural of axe, usually 
used to chop wood. I am not particularly fond of axis's to describe the 
plural of axis, but it may translate better to the original poster.

Or perhaps ask how many different driven directions the original poster's 
machine can move in?

We are a bit short on what the real problem might be.  I suspect quite a 
bit of how LCNC is calibrated to the axis of the machine may need a 
translatable phrasing.
