If the chuck is old, and well-used, it would be good to just 
buy a new chuck.  Phase-II makes some very nice chucks at 
affordable prices.  No need to do anything until other

Is this a Monarch EE?  They had two vintages, first an all 
electromechanical DC drive, later a Thyratron tube DC 
drive.  When these break, many have been retrofitted with AC 
motors.

Most likely not a big deal if the speed is a little off.

Well, if there are big problems in the feed powertrain (such 
as broken gears), then maybe a CNC conversion is the best 
way to go. But, it could just be a sheared taper pin.
