Isn't it the case that apt-get leaves a copy in /var/cache/apt/archives/ by default? I have 326 packages in there, and don't add any funny options to apt-get invocations at all. Hmmm ... it's not something that I back up, though. That should perhaps be remedied before my version goes off the repository radar. (It's only half a gigabyte for the lot.)
