If I understand this, and I've read the discussion on that link, I need 2 input signals, which give one output signal to the VFD with the idea of getting the requested speed regardless of the gear, IF the motor can pull it. That may be a problem...
The input signals would be spindle-abs.out, which currently feeds pwmgen its value (direction is a different circuit) and the abs value of the spindle-tach encoders velocity output. Am I getting it? And, can I put this as a ". src" in the postgui.hal since some of the pins I use for display don't exist until its been run and the extra gui drawn? And for some speeds I am going to have to have some way to control the tach display's range, since 25 rpm on a 1500 rpm full scale tach isn't easily read. I need to study up on the wiki's spindle orientation too, so I can position it for easy backgear engagement. That's currently quite a bit of hunt-n-peck. A pita TBE.
