True enough, although a group of us do tend to share tools - last foreign
user of my machine shop made some over-size BA bolts by printing at work in
nylon a 43 tooth 1 Module gear and using one of my metric feedscrew
change-wheel lathes - it was just easier for him to do this and continue
on his restoration project.

He calculated the gear train, designed the required gear in MATLAB, got it
printed by watching the machine squirt it out, and then had the pleasure of
using it - all without actually owning a 3D printer.

The olde Stratasys that I had access to at work (I have since left)
produced items about 1,000x better than I ever got from my home printer,
despite weeks and weeks of tweaking the home printer.

Am I glad I got my 3D home printer? Yes! Am I glad I put it on a shelf
never to touch it again? YES!!.

;-)

Regards - John.
