I've no clue how a MACH install controls spindle speed, so take this with a suitable amount of salt. And my only software PWMGEN is driving a relatively small DC motor that was and is the OEM motor on an HF small mill, using a PMDX-106 card to translate between the PWMGEN's variable duty cycle signal to the analog voltage the OEM variable speed motor controller needs. A Mesa SpinX1 can do that job albeit with fewer bells and whistles. I would never use a stepgen to drive a spindle motor unless it really was a big honking stepper. So the solution is related to what sort of a motor it is, so please relate that to us, Todd.
