Greetings everybody;

I just put a half a dozen by rough count, new pix in the
lathe-stf/Sheldon_lathe-pix directory on my web site, showing the jog
dials on the apron, and some of the spindle drive repairs. That
taperlock hub is working very well, and the new bearings are running
with about a 5F temp rise when the spindle has been turning 2k rpms for
10 minutes.

I have the home switches on and mostly working, but I think I'll have to
change the Z switch, its about half a bubble off flaky but I've not yet
checked its final position for 20 or so homing operations with a dial
indicator as we've got noisy weather moving by. The X switch seems to
be doing ok, I rehomed it about 20 times and the dial came to rest at 0
on the indicator with no visible wibblies, .2 thou at worst. Even I am
surprised.

I've a bigger switchbox to put everything but the pi and 7i90 in, and a
smaller box for the pi and interface that will eventually replace the in
the lid mounting. I'll put the smaller box on this boxes lid, to help
cover some holes in the lid as its a used box I got off fleabay.

I've got to make a x belt cover yet, but once thats done I'll actually
make something with it. The chuck I knocked about some and got its
runnout down to 3 thou, but I want it better than that, or I'll have to
buy a 4 jaw.

Enjoy, or shake your head at shade tree mechanicing, take your pick.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
