I sold my last cycle nearly 20 years back when I realized my reflexes that used to keep a kneecap covered only with denim, 1/8" off the ground in footpegs touching situations, weren't capable of that level of finesse anymore. But anyone on period machinery still gets a salute from me. One of my first rides was on an Indian Chief, the old 4 cyl inline that I probably gave back to the owner at the end of an armistice day parade in West Liberty IA, well cooked, A prewar machine, tjis was the early '50's, and it made me a biker till I couldn't safely do it anymore. But every vintage machine since has had a hearty salute from me. You learn to respect them, particularly when the father of a friend who was a machinist has made some overhead cam heads for a just barely postwar 45, and the Sun speedo says just over 140 mph. That thing could scream and did it as effortlessly as a modern rice burner 40 years later. I was told the bottom end of it was about 5 grand between new pins and rods as the boy often had it above 9 grand when the road was clear. He didn't worry too much about what was behind him as nothing could catch him. Yup, I salute machinery that has stood the test of time. Got my sig working, but the web page is down, apache2 is missing a file yet. Cheers, Gene Heskett -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
