On our machine, we do a lot of worm gear wheels, mostly just feeding radially in with a purpose made hob. Some bigger hobs are made for tangential feeding. To do this, you need to set up a similar synchronisation between that axis (y in our case and probably z in your setup) Similarly, when doing helical gears, the helix angle or lead of the job required additional movement on C axis (your A axis) to generate the helix.
