Chuckle, not much chance of doing that to a Meade DS-10. Poor mirrors to
start with. I don't believe the primary is even a parabolic. The
secondary was corroded when I got it, and from my end looked too big,
blocking a lot of the primary and only usefull with very low power
eyepieces. So I replaced it with one of about half the OEM versions area
to let a little more light find the bucket. Then had to pad the mount
to restore focus since it was thinner, and bend the bracket a bit to
align it axially to attempt centralizeing the coma. Newtonians have a
very narrow FOV, but you knew that. With better seeing, I likely would
have sawpped it for a 16" Schmidt-Cass. Bring big wagon loads of
sheckels for that though.

But it seems clear skies are a bit rare when one is only 1100 feet ASL
and only 200 miles from the right coast. Light polution is a major
problem. But it does help to keep me out of the bars on clear nights.

Thanks Karl, stay safe and well.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
