I'm running on a stock Tormach PCNC770-3 and I have avoided any changes to
PP in order to be able to update to newer versions/bug fixes without
hassles. Since the source is available I have used it to reverse engineer
the interfaces to Tormach products including their pendant, SmartCool and
USBIO modules and use Arduino based clones of them. I haven't paid much
attention but I believe that others have reverse engineered the ATC
interface; I mostly do one-offs so an ATC is not critical for me.

If you haven't already looked, go to https://forum.linuxcnc.org/pathpilot
for lots of information on using PP on non-Tormach hardware.

awesome

I have looked at it before

thinking about using it on a slant bed lathe I have just not sure if I want
to go down that track of hacking it

are you running it stock standard on a tormach machine or have you hacked it
for your own retrofits?

I am slightly concerned that I think they use a pwm style interface for the
toolchanger. I I would have to use a arduino or something to interface with
that which sounds dodgy. this machine is 5 ton and I want things safe so I
want access to the io control pins so I can use classic ladder and keep it
all within linuxcnc

though probe basic lathe might be ready by the time I get to this

regards

Andrew
