I just downloaded linuxcnc-2.8.2-buster.iso from linuxcnc.org yesterday and installed it. After a period of inactivity (other than the latency test running) it goes to the lock screen.
I can't figure out where to change that behavior. It seems to blow up the latency by over a factor of 10. I would at least like to disable this because it's not good for a machine controller. I swear there was a thread about this on the ml, but I can't find it, sorry.
