If you only use 4 axis total, yes, there is firmware that uses
the 7I76's stepgen4 outpus for PWM/DIR
Or do I have to use a pwmgen module, software IOW, and feed it to a gpio.
This will make me use a much lower frequency. I had plans to use 4
kilohertz because I can't hear that due to Carhart notches 120+db deep in
both ears.
I only need 1 pin, the pwm output. No use of a dir for air compressing.

Yes you would want a 5i25_7i76x1pd firmware. I see the source but the bitfile is
not on the distribution. This firmware replaces stepgen 4 outputs with PWM 0
outputs:

Note that you may need to choose the -step output and invert the PWM
to get a PWM output that is low at startup or watchdog bite and has the
desired polarity
