Greetings all;

The tool table is essentially empty on this xyzb mill, but if I had an entry
that adequately describes a .0625" (1.58 mm) ball nose 4 flute mill, with
a .250" LOC, (6.36 mm) including the fact that its a BN, what would the
table entry look like for G21 metric mode?

Background:
I have a routine now that lays out the tooth by doing the shaping moves
for the buttress shaped tooth, and because the backplot is rather useless
for a nearly 400 mm long screw, it rotates the tool where for this it should
rotate the workpiece image, rather  impractical, with the video tools and
displays we have, so the actual cutting will done by plugging in a
subroutine call to do the cutting after I have established the tooth shape
is close enough for the girls I've gone with. But I can't know this in the
backplot without using a ball nose image for a tool image. I did make one
pass at cutting a 7 degree angle on the load face but that was an abject
fit failure, with both a flatnosed tool, and and a ballnose. The BN makes a
much better finish but the load face has to be square.

As buttress threads go, this is a 6mm tooth, 4mm deep, two starts, so
the pitch is 12 mm. I do the 2nd start on the backstroke with a 180 degree
B offset on both ends the backstroke to unwind the B axis.

That of course leads to a second and third questions. This 5/1 worm drive
I used for B has some  backlash and I'm using an inductive  prox switch
as a home switch.

Does the prox switch have a hysteresis? If no, then can I reliably measure
the drives backlash using one edge of it? Its in the more than 1 degree area.
But probably less than 5. I SWAG'ed it as 2 in the .ini file.

Thanks everybody.
