Happy New Year everyone. Yes I noticed the list was quiet. I decided to put work with the tool setter/probe stuff on hold due to frustration. I'm rereading https://forum.linuxcnc.org/49-basic-configuration/29187-work-with-probe and now on page 37 to try and get a handle on what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do for my situation.
It doesn't help that GIT allows multiple branches to develop each with different changes, some desired, some not. I finally figured out I was using the Probe_V2 master which has the support for the Linux 2.8 and up. I have the macros etc working so that on each tool change the tool is measured with the tool setter. I've yet to get working anything that uses existing values in the tool table and if the length is 0 then go use the setter. Most of the issue is I've been unable to get my head around the values in the tool table. Sometimes the actual length of the tool from the spindle works, other times it's an odd value determined from probing. For now I've put it aside while I play with my new tool; a 12" box pan brake which bought on sale but has, shall we say: "Issues". To be expected for something as cheap as it was. I'm about 1/3rd of the way through modeling it in AlibreCAD so I can figure out how to modify it to fix it. So tool setter, tool probe, probe screen etc on hold for a while yet.
