Thank you Peter, that leaves z backlash. Which is a ball screw, and the heads weight of around 50 lbs should preload the thou or so backlash to zero, but apparently does not. So I have ordered a floating tap holder, and will key it into the r8 tts adaptor to lock out slippage. That /should/ work.  Its still in the USPS system.
