Sorry, but that was me. I assumed, that files that are delete from the dist directory are NOT removed from the mirrors. After I received the urgent cleanup request for the dist directory, I removed everything to be sure.
So far I also assumed that previous releases will remain on the mirrors, which is obviously not true. Hence I will change all our references to old releases to http://archive.apache.org/dist Thanks Rainer > from: Mark Thomas [mailto:[email protected]] > to: Martijn Dashorst > re: [email protected]; Rainer Döbele > re: Re: Help: Downloads not working! > > On 04/07/2011 09:00, Martijn Dashorst wrote: > > On Mon, Jul 4, 2011 at 9:51 AM, Gavin McDonald > <[email protected]> wrote: > >>> It's not possible to download the current release nor any of the > older > >>> releases. > >>> > >>> The link for the current release should be: > >>> http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/incubator/empire- > db/2.1.0/apache- > >>> empire-db-2.1.0-incubating.zip > >>> > >>> If go there you will get a choice of mirrors, but no matter which > one you > >>> select, you either get a 404 or you are redirected to a similar web > page. > >> > >> Only the latest release should be available from the mirrors , in > your case > >> 2.1.0 > >> > >> looking at http://apache.org/dist/incubator/empire-db/ it indeed > shows that > >> to be the case - so that is all the mirrors will provide too. > >> > >> Everything else you should point users to the archive should they > want an > >> older release. > >> > >> OIW, nothing to do here, all is working fine. > > > > Not quite: the main distribution is not downloadable from the mirrors. > > An educated guess based on the timestamps is that someone finally got > around to doing the clean-up of /dist that empire-db should have done > months ago but was a little too enthusiastic and removed all versions. > No idea who that was. > > doebele fixed that by restoring the 2.1.0 release a couple of hours ago > and that will take up to 24 hours to replicate to the mirrors. > > Mark >
