Managed to do what I intend to do by altering the logic in clang/fastcomp/src/lib/Transforms/IPO/Internalize.cpp. However, for our project, the size difference of the main module between DCE disabled and DCE enabled + auto-preserve logic is quite small, only a few MB. So, not worth the trouble.
