Having heard no objections in the intervening two weeks, I'm going to say that
that the previously declared WG consensus to advance 7170bis remains valid and
that the document should be returned to RFC Editor to complete the publication
process.

You will probably have seen that draft-ietf-emu-rfc7170bis has been revised.
You may even recall doing a WGLC on this document in the past. At IETF 122, we
agreed to pull the document back to the WG for updates to more closely reflect
what's actually been fielded in terms of most RFC 7170 implementations.

Alan explained what he did in this version earlier today.[1] Please take a look
at the diff and register any objections you may have with a message to the
mailing list within the next 2 weeks. If we don't get any pushback, the plan
will be to queue the document up with the RFC Editor again since it has
otherwise already been through the IESG process.

Thanks.

Internet-Draft draft-ietf-emu-rfc7170bis-22.txt is now available. It is a work
item of the EAP Method Update (EMU) WG of the IETF.

Title: Tunnel Extensible Authentication Protocol (TEAP) Version 1
Author: Alan DeKok
Name: draft-ietf-emu-rfc7170bis-22.txt
Pages: 123
Dates: 2025-05-28

Abstract:

This document defines the Tunnel Extensible Authentication Protocol
(TEAP) version 1. TEAP is a tunnel-based EAP method that enables
secure communication between a peer and a server by using the
Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol to establish a mutually
authenticated tunnel. Within the tunnel, TLV objects are used to
convey authentication-related data between the EAP peer and the EAP
server. This document obsoletes RFC 7170 and updates RFC 9427 by
moving all TEAP specifications from those documents to this one.
