Title: Oceans-L List

Dear Readers of ENB and Linkages Update and subscribers to our “L” lists (please excuse the cross postings);

On the occasion of the Third Global Conference on Oceans, Coasts, and Islands, which opens today in Paris at UNESCO, IISD Reporting Services is pleased to announce the launch of OCEANS-L in cooperation with Global Forum on Oceans, Coasts and Islands. (Coverage of the Third Global Conference can be found at http://www.iisd.ca/ymb/globaloceans3/)

OCEANS-L, like our other “L” lists (FORESTS-L, CLIMATE-L, WATER-L and CHEMICALS-L), will provide a common electronic resource for organizations who wish to post information on their oceans activities. Messages sent to the list address will be distributed to all subscribers to OCEANS-L.

2006 will be a busy year for international meetings related to oceans, beginning with the Third Global Conference on Oceans, Coasts and Island and followed by the United Nations Ad Hoc Working Group on Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biodiversity in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction in February. There will also be the Review Conference on the Agreement for the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in May, the Seventh Meeting of the Open-Ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea in June and the Second Intergovernmental Review of the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities next October.

Please visit http://www.iisd.ca/email/subscribe.htm to subscribe to OCEANS-L and any of our other free lists.

Subscribers to OCEANS-L can post announcements related to oceans issues by sending emails to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]  All postings should have an “oceans” content and should follow the usual guidelines (no commercial, political or personal messages.)
