The 12th issue of MEA Bulletin includes reports on the conclusion of the High-level Panel on UN System-wide Coherence in the areas of development, humanitarian affairs and the environment, and efforts by the Basel Convention to investigate, at the request of the government of the Côte d’Ivoire, the dumping of toxic material by a Panamanian-registered ship that has reportedly caused three children to die and affected up to 5000 people. The guest article explores the issue of “Linking Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Tourism Development at World Heritage Sites,” and was written by Art Pedersen, UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Salamat Ali Tabbasum, UNESCO World Heritage Centre, and Makiko Yashiro, UNEP.
