Announcing the “SDG” Listserv from IISD Reporting Services andMerger of Websites on Post-2015 and Sustainable Development As the international community moves toward adopting new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of the post-2015 development agenda, issues that were previously addressed in separate intergovernmental tracks are converging. The 17 SDGs proposed by the Open Working Group, which was set in motion by the outcome from the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), are now under consideration by the UN General Assembly. During the coming year, the General Assembly is also expected to consider additional elements of the post-2015 development agenda, such as accountability and monitoring arrangements, means of implementation, and a narrative to frame the agenda. Those who have followed international sustainable development policy know the value of tools that can enhance policy coherence in a decision-making landscape full of meetings, research reports and negotiations. The tools provided by IISD Reporting Services will be particularly valuable in the coming year, as several issue and negotiation tracks come together in a post-2015 development agenda for UN Member States' consideration and adoption in September 2015. Margareta Wahlström, UN Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction, told participants at last week's Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States that 2015 should be the “year of policy coherence” among multiple international conferences. Neutral, reliable tools to enhance policy coherence will continue to be important after the new agenda is adopted and the international community turns to the complex work of implementing it. Six years ago, IISD Reporting Services began tracking and reporting on important meetings and publications emerging between the key negotiations, to enhance transparency and accountability in the negotiation and implementation of intergovernmental agreements on sustainable development. We track this information on a daily basis and publish it in freely available, online and searchable knowledgebases, like Sustainable Development Policy & Practice. This central platform, and its accompanying listserv and emailed Sustainable Development Policy & Practice Update, allow policy makers and practitioners to remain up-to-date on meetings, decisions and publications. Readers will be able to identify relevant news and track key decision points as the Rio+20 outcome is implemented and the post-2015 development agenda takes shape. We look forward to continuing to enhance policy coherence and to increasing the transparency of the decision making process leading to the post-2015 development agenda.
