Hi Everyone,

I have seen a tool in the wild that seems to be doing just the same as
EncFS but is proprietary, commercial software. It is available under
http://www.boxcryptor.com. The software is very similar to the windows
version of EncFS, available under
http://members.ferrara.linux.it/freddy77/encfs.html. It is claimed that
the software is fully compatible to EncFS and indeed you can find an
".encfs6.xml" file in the directories it creates. Earlier versions have
also been using Dokan library as the windows version by Freddy77 does.

Is there a way to find out whether BoxCryptor is truly independent of
EncFS code? The company behind BoxCryptor is a startup supported by
various German government and Europen Union funds.

Regards,

Joe
