This story was quite interesting. I like hearing about other cultures and
their different customs, but this one was a little bit to odd for my
liking. Their ceremonies were discusting. You know something is wrong
when they are putting hog hair in their mouths and women are baking their
heads in ovens for an hour. I just don't understand why they possibly
think that that could help them. But who am I to discriminate against
other people. I say just do whats makes you happy.
They believe that their charms and potions will protect the body of the
worshipper. A medicine man makes the potions for the people. What I don't
understand is why the medicine man makes the peoeple give him gifts for the
potions. If it was that sacred of an event, then he should do it to please
the body. What I also thought was very unusual about the medicine man is
that they are basically allowed to fondle the women when they are naked in
the temple.
That is something else that I don't understand. Why they have to be naked
in the temples and why the men have to I think "do their business" in front
of everyone in the temple. Why aren't these medicine men questioned when
people are dying and they aren't getting cured by the ritual. I also
thought that it was weird that if a woman has nice breasts, then she can
show men in the village for a fee.
