I have the same problem. I remember the issue was debated some time ago, e.g. by bob.hen...@galen.org.uk (topic: "Odd behaviour of Enigmail 1.7.2"). I did not see an answer. Perhaps anyone knows which settig should be adapted in Thunderbird? Please advise!
