I've just added some changes to cvs that let you try out the new XFree86 4.3.0 XCursor support in E17. You shouldn't notice anything different unless you make some config changes as noted below.
First, the obligatory screen shot - http://kevb.net/files/2003-03-08-084959_1280x1024_scrot.jpg ( Cursors ------- There's a new entry in the behavior.db to control E17's choice of cursor type. You'll need to create it, or copy the latest version and modify /desktops/cursors/e_native to 0. This turns off E's use of it's own cursor images, and uses XFree86 cursors instead. behavior.db lives in ~/.e/behavior, so make sure that one has the setting. You'll need to configure XFree86 XCursor support. By default 4.3.0 uses a core cursor theme that looks a lot like prior releases of XFree86. To really see a difference, try adding Xcursor.theme: redglass to ~/.Xresources If you don't get red transparent cursors with shadows after restarting X, then you may also need to configure X to use software cursors. This depends on your video card. In general, adding Option "swcursor" to the device section of your XF86Config file should be enough. You'll probably get tired of the red cursors quick, unless you have a theme that looks good with red... In my screen shot, you'll see an entice window in the lower corner showing a resize cursor. I've used some online tools, and converted it to an XCursor theme. You can grab my version from http://kevb.net/files/ as corporate_xcursor_0.3.tgz (107k). Extract in ~/.icons, then change the XCursor theme to "corporate" as above. The original is from a cursor pack for Windows. It is available from http://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?wp=6&sort=updatedate&searchtext=&order=&library=25 as the "Corporate" download. You can convert any CursorXP pack with the perl script from http://bwbohh.net (at least you could prior to today, I can't presently get to the site) called SD2XC-0.0.3.perl. I modified that script to create the corporate version on my site. The script is included in the tar file and also as http://kevb.net/files/SD2XC-0.0.3.kjb.perl . Border Theme ------------ I've partially ported Aphex2 from http://themes.freshmeat.net/projects/aphex2/?topic_id=60 . Those are the borders you see in the screen shot. You can grab my border bits from http://kevb.net/files/aphex2_port_e17_cobra_0.1.tgz , extract this into /usr/local/share/enlightenment/data/borders/default (you might want to save a copy of that directory first.) I've included the Aphex2 border/menu title font in the tar file, just copy conga.ttf into data/fonts, then change the softlink in that directory for text.ttf -> conga.ttf.
