I was a bit unclear... I think both ways are good and have their merits. For really drastically different things, using a separate group will be much much easier, but you won't be able to animate between them. Having different states of all the parts within a single group would allow you to animate, but would be a bit tedious (without a GUI edje editor :)

So when changing the state I'd emit a signal to the edje which puts the parts in that specific state.

yeah, this wouldn't require any extra code, except the resize signals.
Did I get you right?

I'll implement those resize handlers tomorrow.
