I tried to compile e16menuedit and e16keyedit with gtk2.4 instead of gtk1.x and both applications seems to work without problems. I changed only Makefiles and two lines in e16keyedit. Did you think switching to gtk2 in CVS and next release is a good idea?
There are still some GLib-GObject-CRITICAL warnings when executing both applications, but I think they could be easily removed or ignored.
I think these programs are effectively unmaintained. The last code change was four years ago. If you send a patch and it looks OK. I'm sure somebody will apply it. It seems that quite a few people use the programs. so if you happen to fix a bug here and there, that would probably be appreciated too :)
