I think 3rd party modules can't yet use e_gadget_face_theme_set (rephorm or someone else can correct me if I'm wrong).
I think you'll find your problem can be resolved in the meantime if you use edje_object_file_set

Don't laugh too much at my horrid lack of artwork. I have to get the
theme working before I can make it pretty.
It still doesn't do anything, but it has config menus now.
