There seems to be a bug in evas/edje that makes text sometimes vanish when the width of the bounding box is equal to the width of the text itself.
When the bounding box is larger than the text, the text is displayed properly, and when the bounding box is smaller than the text, the text is truncated and a "..." appended to the end.
Here's an example that demonstrates this bug.

As the button gets bigger, the text is slowly revealed.. but suddenly it vanishes in the middle.
