I tried to do that 3 years ago or so. IIRC raster claimed libpng.pc wasn't available everywhere which would make it impossible for the EFL to use it. However, libpng's pkg-config file has been shipped with libpng for ages, so we should just switch over :/ Details might be found in the mailing list logs.
