That depends if you installed the kernel-headers (like people did a few years 
ago) or the
so-called linux-libc-headers[1]. The version of the headers have little to do 
with the
target kernel, so it is valid to install 2.6.x headers to compile against.

[1] for 2.6.15-ish kernels there is a tarball, recent kernels have a 'make
headers_install' option
