Our use-case is a fullscreen application that replaces the desktop
completely, it's used to develop prototypes of futuristic environments
for embedded systems, where composite (x extension) is not an option.

andrunko committed that in the hope to later unify efforts with "fb"
engine, that has to provide the windows itself, just like what we
want.
